Botox in Sugar Land, TX

Dr. David Stapenhorst of Signature Plastic Surgery offers Botox® treatments to the residents of Sugar Land, Texas, and Houston, Texas. The forehead and area between the eyes are prone to wrinkles caused by stress, aging and other factors. Fine lines and wrinkles on the forehead and between the eyebrows give a person the appearance of being angry or tired. Botox®, or botulinum toxin, is a purified substance that is made from a specific type of bacteria. Botox® works to remove fine lines and wrinkles by blocking nerve signals to the muscles of the area injected. When the muscles are weakened by the Botox® injections, they cannot contract to form wrinkles. Botox® is one of the fastest methods for improving the appearance of the skin on the forehead and between the eyebrows.

What happens during the Botox® procedure by Dr. David Stapenhorst?

Dr. Stapenhorst uses a tiny needle to inject Botox® into the muscles of the forehead and the area between the eyebrows. Through his experience, Dr. Stapenhorst knows which muscles to target based on the wrinkles on the patient’s face. Depending on the extent of the wrinkles to be treated, Dr. Stapenhorst may administer several Botox® injections during the treatment session. Typically, the Botox® procedure takes 15 minutes, making Botox® a convenient treatment for women who have little time to spare. Initial results are apparent in two to three days while full results are seen in about one week. Dr. Stapenhorst advises his patients that the results of Botox® injections typically last three to four months.

When can normal activities resume after the Botox® procedure?

Botox® injections require only minimal downtime for the patient. Dr. Stapenhorst advises his patients that they should avoid exercise/strenuous activities or extremely hot environments for 24-48 hours after the Botox® injection.  This minimizes the chance of bruising and swelling. Patients may resume most of their normal activities immediately after receiving Botox® injections.

Is there any pain associated with the Botox® procedure?

The most common experience reported by patients is discomfort associated with the needle used for the Botox® treatments. Dr. Stapenhorst advises his patients that they may have slight bleeding at the injection site, soreness and mild swelling. These symptoms should resolve within a few days after the procedure.
