How is a forehead lift performed?
During a classic “open” brow lift, Dr. Riley will make incisions inside or along the hairline, adjust the forehead tissue, raise the eyebrow if needed, and trim excess skin. If an endoscopic or “closed” technique is chosen, Dr. Riley will make tiny incisions in the scalp, and use a small camera called an endoscope to guide the surgeon as he adjusts forehead tissue as needed. With both techniques, stitches will be used behind the hairline.

How long is the recovery period following a forehead lift?
Physical signs of surgery can include bruising, swelling and discoloration, which usually resolve in 1 - 2 weeks. Because the endoscopic forehead lift is less invasive, recovery time is somewhat quicker than with the classic forehead lift. Patients with the endoscopic technique may return to work in 1 week or less, and patients with the classic forehead lift usually return to work in about 10 days. Strenuous activities should be avoided for 3 - 4 weeks.

When will I see the effects of my forehead lift?
You will be able to notice an enhanced appearance almost immediately, although there will be some swelling during recovery. Final forehead lift results will be noticeable within a few weeks. Keep in mind that eyebrows may seem a bit elevated, but will relax during the course of the healing process.

Will there be noticeable scars from a forehead lift?
Dr. Riley will place the forehead lift incisions inconspicuously behind the hairline. If the hairline is high or receding, the incision may be placed at the hairline to avoid the appearance of a high forehead. Although there will be some remaining scars, they are hidden well enough to be unnoticeable.
