What problems does a face lift correct?
A face lift is effective in correcting facial flaws caused by aging and environmental factors. A face lift aims to minimize wrinkles, eliminate excess skin and fat, and create a more youthful appearance. A face lift can take years off your appearance, giving you a firmer face with smoother skin. Many patients agree that a face lift helps then look 10 years younger!
Are the effects of a face lift permanent?
Although a face lift does create a younger-looking face, it is intended to correct flaws up until the point of surgery. A face lift cannot prevent future skin damage or avert future signs of aging. It can, however, keep you looking dramatically younger, compared to what your appearance would have been without surgery.
Will my face lift procedure leave scars?
Dr. Riley will carefully place the incisions so as not to leave noticeable scars, around the neckline, jaw line and ears. Incision marks will fade as the healing process continues and should be well hidden when you are fully recovered from surgery.
When can I return to work following a face lift?
The majority of our patients feel they have healed enough to resume job duties in 2 weeks.
Can I use cover-up techniques after surgery?
Bruising and swelling will temporarily occur, but as the side effects begin to lessen, patients can use make-up and special concealers to help hide them.
Am I a candidate for a face lift?
A face lift may be a good choice for men and women who are looking to rejuvenate their appearance and dramatically reduce signs of aging in the face and neck. In patients who are looking to minimize wrinkling or sagging in the eyes, a blepharoplasty or brow lift may prove to be a better option. A face lift and eyelid lift are commonly performed at the same time to achieve complete rejuvenation of the face.
Is there an age requirement for the face lift procedure?
Patients can choose to have a face lift anywhere from age 35-40 to age 80, although most face lift patients tend to fall somewhere in the middle. Patients who are a bit older and require more lifting or tightening will see a more dramatic result. Younger patients who desire more specific correction often opt for a brow lift or blepharoplasty, as the eyes are usually the first area where signs of aging occur.
How is a face lift performed?
During your personalized face lift procedure, Dr. Riley will make small incisions following natural contours of the face. The facial skin is isolated and the underlying muscles are tightened. The facial skin is tightened, trimmed and secured with sutures.
