How is a mastopexy procedure performed?
Dr. Riley will create incisions in the natural contours of the breast, remove excess skin, and relocate the nipple and areola to an aesthetically pleasing position. Patients may choose to have augmentation along with mastopexy, in which case a breast implant will be inserted. Dr. Riley will place sutures in the incision sites to give the breast a full, natural contour. Breasts are now “lifted” for a more youthful appearance.
When can I return to work following a mastopexy?
Most mastopexy patients can resume work activities in about one week, or less depending on the nature of your job. Dr. Riley can give you a good idea of the time you will need to take off during your consultation.
Will I need to wear a compression garment after surgery?
You will need to wear a supportive bra after your mastopexy surgery to help the healing process, and reduce swelling. The bra will also help keep you comfortable, reduce tension, and help maintain your new breast contour until the area is sufficiently healed. Dr. Riley will instruct you on how long to wear the postoperative bra.
Am I a good candidate for mastopexy?
Women who have breasts of any size that sag may benefit from a mastopexy procedure. Fluctuation in weight, pregnancy and aging are all causes of sagging breasts. Potential patients should wait until after childbearing to get the best results from a breast lift.
