Who can benefit from breast reduction surgery?
Breast reduction can help women who face daily medical problems as a result of the heavy strain on the shoulders, neck and back. Breast reduction can help bras and clothing fit better. Breasts will feel lighter and will look more proportionate with the rest of the body.
Patients planning on breast feeding in the future should not have breast reduction surgery until after they have finished child bearing.
What medical problems might indicate a need for breast reduction?
Excessive tissue in the breasts can cause back pain, neck pain, shoulder strain, poor posture, difficulty exercising, running and playing sports, shortness of breath, painful bra strap indentations and chest soreness. Reducing breast size will help with all of these problems.
Will breast reduction result in noticeable scars?
Dr. Riley will place incisions in the folds beneath the breasts and around the areola where they will be less noticeable, but a vertical scar connecting the two incisions is usually necessary. With time, this scar typically fades to be even less noticeable.
Will my insurance cover breast reduction surgery?
Breast reduction is most often performed for medical reasons and is usually covered under insurance policies. Check with your provider for more information.
