Breast Lift in Richmond, TX
Women, in Richmond and Houston, Texas, who want to improve the appearance of their breasts trust the knowledge and skill of Dr. David Stapenhorst at Signature Plastic Surgery. Dr. Stapenhorst specializes in breast lift procedures that can help lift droopy, saggy breasts.
Drooping breasts are common in women of all ages and can be caused by aging, weight loss, multiple pregnancies, and breastfeeding. Women who are experiencing a lack of firmness, nipples that point downward or nipples that fall below the crease of their breasts may benefit from a breast lift. A simple test can be completed at home to determine if your breasts would benefit from a surgical lift. Simply place a pencil within the crease of your breast. If the pencil remains in position when you are not holding it, you may be a good candidate for a breast lift.
What Happens During the Breast Lift Procedure by Dr. David Stapenhorst?
Dr. Stapenhorst completes a mastopexy or breast lift in either a hospital or a surgery center. More complex breast lifts are completed in the hospital setting. This is determined during your initial assessment. An anesthesiologist will administer a general anesthesia so the patient will sleep during the entire procedure and will awaken in the recovery room. The breast lift procedure takes three to four hours.
Dr. Stapenhorst will make an incision around the areola, the dark skin surrounding the nipple. Next, he will remove the excess skin from the breast and reshape skin and underlying tissue. Sometimes a breast implant is added during the operation to enhance the fullness of the breast. A second operation may be planned for the inserting of an implant.
When Can Normal Activities Resume After Dr. Stapenhorst Performs the Breast Lift Procedure?
Dr. David Stapenhorst recommends rest and limited activities immediately following the surgery. Exercise and lifting must be restricted for four to six weeks. Incisions must be fully healed before returning to normal activity levels. Patients who have received a breast implant must avoid all activities that could result in a blow to the chest. Specific instructions will be provided during your consultation.
How Long Is The Recovery After a Breast Lift?
Following the mastopexy procedure, strenuous activity and heavy lifting should be avoided for up to six weeks or longer. Most women take one to two weeks away from work. Immediately following surgery, the breasts may be swollen, red, or the skin may feel tight. During your recovery process, a specialized compression bra will be worn over the chest to help the breast heal properly. Results can often be seen after a month, and will continue to improve over time.
