Chemical Peels in Sugar Land, TX

Chemical or Micro Peels in the Sugar Land, Texas, and Houston, Texas areas are offered by Dr. David Stapenhorst of Signature Plastic Surgery. Chemical or Micro Peels, also known as chemexfoliation or derma peelings, are minimally invasive procedures that improve the overall appearance of their skin. Dr. David Stapenhorst may recommend Chemical or Micro Peels for the face, hands and neck.

What happens during the Chemical or Micro Peels procedure by Dr. David Stapenhorst?

Based on the individual treatment plan, Dr. Stapenhorst uses different levels of Chemical or Micro Peels. Light Chemical or Micro Peels provide small improvements immediately after the procedure, and the skin develops a healthy glow over time. Light Chemical or Micro Peels need to be repeated every week for six weeks and then every month. Medium Chemical Peels give the skin a noticeably improved appearance, and deep Chemical Peels provide patients with the most dramatic and long-lasting results. Medium Chemical Peels are repeated every six to 12 months.

For the deep Chemical Peels, Dr. Stapenhorst uses either general anesthesia or local anesthesia with a sedative. The face is cleaned, and a chemical solution is brushed onto the treatment area. The chemical solution remains on the face for up to one hour, depending on the level of Chemical Peel. Dr. Stapenhorst applies a neutralizing solution, and the face is rinsed. The skin may turn grey, red or brown after the medium and deep Chemical Peels.

When can normal activities resume after the Chemical or Micro Peels procedure?

Patients who undergo medium Chemical Peels should avoid the sun for at least three months after their procedures. After a deep Chemical Peel, patients must always protect their skin from the sun. Dr. Stapenhorst advises his patients that, after a deep Chemical Peel, they need to recover at home for at least two weeks.

Is there any pain associated with the Chemical or Micro Peels procedure?

Patients typically experience redness and soreness after the procedure. The treatment area may develop scabs during the healing process.
