Meet Dr. David Stapenhorst
Dr. David Stapenhorst of Signature Plastic Surgery is a board certified plastic surgeon serving the communities of Sugar Land, Texas, and Houston, Texas. Dr. Stapenhorst earned his Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering at Texas A&M University where he graduated Cum Laude with Engineering Honors. He then continued his education at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center where he received his Doctorate of Medicine. Following medical school, Dr. Stapenhorst completed his general surgery residency at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock before he returned to his hometown of Sugar Land, TX to further his surgical training in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center.
Dr. Stapenhorst received extensive training in a wide variety of situations throughout his post graduate education. During his general surgery residency, he received intense training in the technical aspects of surgery, and honed his patient management skills, professional initiative, and leadership at the first accredited Level 1 Trauma Center in the state of Texas. His fellowship provided him with the opportunity to expand and enhance his knowledge in the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery at several major institutions in and around the world renowned Texas Medical Center. Memorial-Hermann Hospital and LBJ General Hospital are large volume centers that provided Dr. Stapenhorst with instruction and experience in general, craniofacial, cosmetic, hand, and trauma plastic surgery. M.D. Anderson Cancer Center is one of the top hospitals in the world for the reconstruction of cancer related defects and St. Joseph Hospital has a long history of being a recognized leader in providing excellent cosmetic and general plastic surgical care.
Dr. David Stapenhorst strives to provide his patients with compassionate care of the highest quality. As the leader of Signature Plastic Surgery, Dr. Stapenhorst works with his staff to ensure that patients and their families receive education about their procedure and remain informed throughout the course of their treatment.
Dr. Stapenhorst is honored to work closely with children and cancer survivors in the Sugar Land, Texas, and Houston, Texas, areas. His goal is to improve his patients quality of life by using estiblashed treatment protocols combined with the latest advances in plastic and reconstructive surgery.
Dr. David Stapenhorst is licensed by the State of Texas and double board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and American Board of Surgery. He is the Chief of Surgery at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Sugar Land as well as the Sugar Land Skeeters Team Plastic Surgeon. He has been certified as an advanced trauma life support instructor and in advanced burn life support. Dr. Stapenhorst is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the Texas Medical Association, the Harris County Medical Society and the Houston Society of Plastic Surgeons.
